When the 2019 Meaford Dragons were through grilling the challengers on October 30, Free Spirit Forest and Nature School emerged with support from all five Dragons plus additional prizes for a grand total of $6500. Now their total winnings have grown to $8000 with the addition of a $1500 digital marketing package from myFavoriteMarketer.
To make sure that the prize went to the contestant who could put it to best use, the Meaford Chamber of Commerce introduced one more challenge in 2019. Each contestant was invited to submit a statement describing how they would use the package and how it supported their business plans.
It was tough. We heard some great ideas on how contestants would use our digital and print marketing and advertising services. It was kind of like being one of the Meaford Dragons, but with more time to think about it.
In the end, Free Spirit Forest and Nature School’s compelling pitch for a website makeover won over this “Dragon”. “Our website needs an overhaul to sharpen our marketing focus and make it more user friendly,” wrote Kim and Matt Simpson. Running a not-for-profit, left little time for the couple to execute their vision for their WordPress website, which they first launched five years ago.
Free Spirit Forest and Nature School is Southern Georgian Bay’s only not-for-profit Forest School Canada certified program. The school offers quality outdoor educational and experiential programs by certified OCT Outdoor Educators, ECEs, and Forest School Practitioners for children ages 4-12. They currently operate classes five days a week in Collingwood, a sister program in Wasaga Beach, and one day per week at Memorial Park in Meaford. Their goal is to offer more nature-connection experiences to children throughout the Municipality of Meaford, including a new parent and tot program, Cedars and Saplings.
The myFavoriteMarketer website makeover package offered such features as updated design, marketing copywriting, custom programming, and a review and improvements to propel their site to higher results in search engines (SEO).
“Because we rely heavily on the information conveyed on our website, we believe that the Website Makeover would be an incredible asset to our organization,” said Kim and Matt.
