Ecommerce webinar – tips to help launch your online storefront

When Ben Frisch, Digital Service Squad CO for the South Georgian Bay Small Business Enterprise Centre, invited me to take part in “Tools & Tech For Making Your Online Store A Local Success Story”, I couldn’t say no.  Since myFavoriteMarketer developed its first ecommerce website back in 2005, I’ve had a lot of time to learn the intricacies of online shopping, and I’ve grown to know WooCommerce – the WordPress ecommerce platform – intimately.

But with only two business days before the roundtable webinar, I wanted another friendly face onboard, so I called on Angela Forder of Canadian Pet Connection to bring her ecommerce expertise along. Thankfully, my fellow Meafordite joined in.   Her day-to-day experience with the marketing and operation of a successful online storefront brought valuable, practical solutions to the table.

I also learned a lot from the rest of the crack crew, as we tried to give retailers an idea of the options that might be right for them.  We looked at the pros and cons of different ecommerce platforms, including WooCommerce, Shopify, and Lightspeed – comparing costs, ease of use, and integration with point-of-sale and inventory. And we touched on aspects beyond the plaforms, such as tips on how to market your online store.

Watch the recording of the webinar below, and get to know the team and hear some advice you can use in your own business.
